Cider Tasting at Back Forty (East Village)

October 25, 2014 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Back Forty and Back Forty West are excited to welcome Rowan Jacobsen, James Beard winning author, for a walk around cider tasting at Ave. B on Saturday Oct 25th and a full-on cider and apple dinner at Prince St. on Monday October 27th both celebrating rare apples of the northeast and the exciting ciders produced  in the region. Rowan has written the just published Apples of Uncommon Character, a visually lush and fact filled book as well as numerous terrific, informative (yet never pedantic) food books including A Geography of Oysters and American Terroir.

BACK FORTY-Saturday October 25th 3-5PM

Come taste a wide array of ciders from the best northeast cider makers with snacks passed that best complement cidery flavors. Rowan will offer guidance on understanding ciders, their tradition in Europe and the US and walk us through a tasting of some of his favorite uncommon apples as well.  Highlighted ciders will be Farnum Hill, Eve’s Cidery, Eden and Westfield Ciders. If it’s a nice afternoon we’ll hold the tasting in the backyard where basking in the autumn sunlight is free of charge. $50 includes ciders and snacks.

You know what they say about heirloom foods? You’ve got to eat them to keep them alive. Come join us for what promises to be a fun and delicious event

The cost of a cider tasting ticket is $50.00. With the addition of sales tax, 20% gratuity, and Paypal processing fee, the final cost is $66.75.  The ticket include pours of all available cider as well as passed and shared snacks throughout the event.  Rowan’s new book, Apples of Uncommon Character, is also available for purchase below.  Save $10.00 by purchasing an advance copy AND get Rowan to sign it for you at the tasting.
